Can anyone tell me if these sleds are light enough to tote around with a rope around the belly and tow to near by spot jumping? I do not own a four wheeler or a snowmobile and was wondering if a guy could pull a Otter 2 Medium cabin around a bit? Any comparisons to the fish traps (2 man)

    Thanks

No problem Steve. The medium is under 100lbs, if I remember correctly. I’ve pulled Otter Lodge by hand before. It is close to pushing the limit for one guy, but the medium should be no problem. Plus your getting a better quality sled in my humble opinion.

I’m pretty sure mine is the medium and if you look it up I think it is 60 pounds combined weight. I don’t usually even drive on the ice anymore unless I’m on a really large lake that has been well traveled. I pull it a long way in the course of a day. I try to do a large loop that way I’m not so far away when it is quiting time. If you want before you get one you can come ice fishing with me and you can practice pulling mine all around the lake. Really it isn’t bad at all. Those sleds are real wide and have a lot of surface to spread out the weight even on fresh snow.Steve

Sure Steve, you just want me to be your mule for the day right? lol!

Thnaks guys for your info, I am sold.
Sad to say, I do not want the hard ice to come for awhile, having too much fun on the river right now. But when that time comes, I know I will be ready with my Otter.

I have the otter medium sled with the cabin top (2 man). It is easy to pull, you can fit all your gear in it even the power auger. The zippered door is nice–if you want to keep the heat inside. You can set it 1/2 open in a windbreak fashion. Pull it with a rope by hand or with a ATV/Snowmobile. Otter has it’s own line of seats, hitch attachments, etc although with a skil saw and drill you can save the bucks. I have built two seat with 2×10’s or 2×12’s and attached swivel seats, rod holders(to set the rod in while I attend to tip-ups), etc. When I first got the otter I went out fishing with another guy who was dragging an older suitcase style portable….It ended up riding on top of my otter because the guy just couldn’t bear pulling that heap anymore. Alot of guys that fish with me have all bought otter’s also. Good luck getting a hold of one……they go really fast. P.s. the sled floats…I’ve used it to drag duck decoys around, I’ve even gotten inside the thing used it as a blind and floated across waist deep mud to set decoys. The sled hauls deer well also.
