Ok, its getting late summer, the state fairs not that far away and its Minnesota so you can’t predict tomorrows weather. I’m going to be doing some work with the boat next week so I’m going to fill it with gas and got to wondering about a couple of things. One, I want run some gas additive cleaner and two is it time to maybe start using some thing like Stabil if this is the last hurrah. Whats the poison of choice for these two options. Sea Foam + Stabil or is Sea Foam good for that too . What do you guys think. Usually I just wait till theres almost ice covering the ramp and run the motor dry.

Sea Foam….stuffs so good I wish I could drink it to clean my pipes! I use it in every third tank on boat motor and every 4th tank in my truck. I also add it to my truck oil!

Seafoam all the way. In my opionion it’s a better stabilizer.

I`ll third that Seafoam all the way. I run it all the time in my 60 Evinrude along with synthetic oil. They are a looper motor and are not known for a good idle. With seafoam in the tank I can troll all day and never load up.

    Good Luck

I take it thats a 2 stroke and answers some thing I thought of after I posted the start. Does some thing like Sea Foam break down the 2 cycle oil.

I use Seafoam in all my gas engines, both 2 & 4 cycle. I’m using up the left over stabil on the one gallon of gas I keep seperate as “back-up” should I need to mix some 2 cycle fuel after surprise storm damage. Every few months I just pour it in the truck to use it up & immediately replace.
Notice how the price has dropped on Stabil … I think Seafoam scares them.

Just checked out their site http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm and glad to say, its for 2 cycles too and stablizes so might as well go with it. The way I figure it, push comes to shove, if I don’t finish off this gas this fall, its ready to go. I’ll just stick more in every time I refill the tanks till it does freeze over. Fishing with Doc at Oahe has given me an itch to do some serious fishing this fall.
