Foggy iFinder H20

The inside of my iFinder H20 is foggy with condensation. I thought this unit was waterproof??? The problem now is that I can’t seem to be able to get rid of this moisture.

My Raymarine fishfinder occasionally fogs, but usually clears in 10 minutes or so once the unit is in the sun.

Try turning on the backlighting to it’s highest level and leave it running for a day or two. The heat it creates usually clears out the fog in most units. On depthfinder units, unplug the transducer while running the unit out of the water.

Hi Dan, That H2O is supposed to be waterproof. I haven’t heard of any problems yet. If Jon’s idea doesn’t work you might give Lowrance a call. I wonder if even waterproof units would get some moisture and condensation developing with temp. changes etc.??? I suppose there is the possiblity of a poor seal. Lowrance is 800-324-1356 if you don’t get it resolved. Good luck with it! – Wade

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try the light thing first.

I also wonder if I should run it without the battery cover on it. I am thinking that this may provide an exit for the moisture.

Now that I think about it, that is probably the only way moisture could get into it. I have had to change the batteries on the water a few times. Maybe that is how it got there. I guess it is time to install the cig lighter socket on the console.

Definately. No need to go through all those batteries.

    Good luck Dan!

It seems to have dried out now. I can’t explain what happened.
