I have a buddy that just bought a Lund 1700 angler with a 70 Yammy on it. At idle with the motor in gear the motor clunks down in the shaft and prop area. It seems to go away at higher speeds but that may be because you can’t hear it. The gear lube is full and new so that isn’t the problem.

Any suggestions as to what is happening would be great. Thanks everyone!!

Sounds to me like the motor may not be going all the way into gear. Might just need a shift linkage adjustment.

Might take a look at the prop nut it may not be on tight. Had a freind bought a new Merc first time out lost the prop completely they forgot to put in the cotter pin. OUCH $350 dollar prop at the bottom of the lake.

    Good Luck
