I am looking at a new depthfinder, and I have heard a lot about the Lowrance 332c. Could you guys give me any solid information, likes or dislikes? I am not highly knowledgeable so any information would help. PM me if you would rather, thanks.

I have one and I think it’s the best money I’ve spent in a long time. It’s a really good value and it’s awesome to have in the boat. What more can I say?
May 18, 2005 at 1:19 pm #363642Looks like a pretty nice finder for the $. The only thing that I would be worried about is the screen size. I always like finders with a big screen. I think it’s probably fine if you’re just running the full screen graph. However, when you want to split it, like I usually do with either GPS or Zoom graph, it might be a little small.
Also depends if you want color. I would actually like to hear from someone that has color and how much better it actually is.
You can buy an lcx-15 right now at Cabelas for less than the 332. It may not be what you want, but I have one and can say that it is a great graph.May 18, 2005 at 2:07 pm #363657I have this unit, brand new. Really love the color. They upgraded all the screens too so that the sun or glares don’t mess up your view of it which has been great. No problems at all. I think the screen is plenty good for me. But I don’t ever do split screen really and I have good vision so it seems to be ok. I think the color though is a great upgrade. But I don’t know how much extra it is and a guy would have to weigh that out depending on your needs and budget.

I was reading somewhere(can’t remember where exactly), but some guys were having issues with this unit. I think it was on the GPS side…. Do a google search for problems with 332C. I know there is a simple fix for the problem, just something you should be aware of up front.
FireballPosts: 113May 18, 2005 at 4:57 pm #363705I had two only one left. The color compared to the B&W no comparison to structure, fish, baitfish ans yes Sticks/Logs.
great unit for the money, Uses memory chip and unit is upgadeable (great unit). Remember the GPS Puck needs to have power to it.May 19, 2005 at 12:44 am #363821I have one and love it. The only issue is in the install, some guys don’t hook up power to the gps module- I made the same mistake. NO PROBLEMS…
May 19, 2005 at 3:43 am #358457The problem people were having with the 332C was with the install, not the unit itself. We have a checklist posted at the top of the outdoor gear forum which should prevent that problem. People were not wiring the unit correctly. As for the unit, it’s outstanding. I’ve seen many of the new units in action and the 332C is the best in that price range. I liked it so much I put one on my own boat. As for color, it simply blows away black n white. Color is soooo much easier to read it’s amazing. Ask anyone who runs a color unit. They’ll tell you how much better it is. Ask anyone who runs the 332C. They’ll tell you how bright, crisp, and clear that picture is. People love this unit. I wouldn’t suggest any other combo in that price range.
I’d be glad to answer any specific questions you have about the unit. I’m going to be gone for a few days (fishing in Fergus Fall area) but feel free to give me a yell after I return Tuesday. I’ll have some pics of the 332C in action.
If anyone is in the Fergus Falls area I’ll be at Battle View Landing on the East end of Battle Lake for the next 4 days. Stop on by and say hello!
May 20, 2005 at 2:53 pm #364152Any advantages of getting the 337c over the 332c for river or lake fishing? What is the advantage of 4000 w over 2400 w?? Does it make that much difference?

No real advantage for inalnd lakes and rivers. In my opinion you don’t need the extra power for inland lakes and rivers. In fact, the DF units may be a disadvantage due to the more narrow cone angle at 200khz. Most inland lakes/rivers anglers will need a single frequency transducer on Lowrance units.

Wade any pics of the 332C yet. I’m already sold on the unit but would still like to see some on the water screen shots. Thanks!

June 24, 2005 at 6:40 pm #369947Nate, sorry but I tried to take some pics and when I downloaded them they looked terrible (my photography skills need work!). I have some screen shots that I took a while back but they turned out fuzzy too. HERE are those pics. Keep in mind that the fuzzy appearance is from the camera, not the unit.
I’ll be on the water again over the 4th and I will try to take some better photos.
I can tell you that the screen is outstanding!
