Does anybody know where to get the bulk cooking oil for a outdoor cooker at a reasonable price? Also was wondering how long you can keep used oil ? I filter it and store it on a cool basement floor. Thanks HYBES

Buy a large jug from a friend in a bar or resturant or quick mart or bar or supermarket deli or bar or school or tavern that serves food. Prices will vary from ten to twenty-five dollars depending on the market. As for how long it will last, I have never tried to store it. The best way to filter it is through a pair of slightly used panty hose……B

Well Rivereyes, you can use a coffee filter, but the weave is so tight that it will only filter about a half gallon per hour. There are probably other useable substitutes as well, for those nylaphobes out there.

As far as storing it goes, I always filtered it into milk jugs and froze it. I don’t think I would trust the basement, although I have no info to back that up.

Try some cheese cloth. Very in-expensive and you can get it in any fabric store. Slighty used panty hose???? LOL

I know Gander sells a variety of bulk oil for fryers. I used to use cheese cloths back in the 70’s at a resturaunt I used to work at.
