Any body ever put a trolling motor transducer on a minnkota with the grip glide, without the universal transducer?

I am wanting to put a fishfinder on the front of my boat but my trolling motor doesn’t have the universal transducer.

any body figured out a good way to run the transducer cable from the transducer mounted to the foot of the motor to the top of the motor? You can’t zip tie the cable to the shaft of the motor like they recomend because the shaft has to slide thru the grip glide mount.

    any ideas?

    Welcome Aboard to IDA Burk

I hear you Burk! I ran into the same problem a few years back. I could not figure out a system that I liked. A few worked but nothing that satisfied me . So I went and bought a universal . Sold my other PD here on IDA. For the life of me I can not remember what I did but, I remember there was some loose flapping wire that I did not like.

So to sum it up…. I’m no help to you!

Run the cable throught the grip glide handle. Leave 11-12 inches of slack in the cable and wire tie the top end to the shaft directly under the head of the motor.

I also have the grip glid. Watch the wire when you store it. The slack can get cought in the grip. The end result a broken transducer wire

How can it get caught in the grip if you run the cord through the handle?

    thanks for the help!!

taking a fishing trip next week and was hoping to use the new finder, looks like I will just rig it thru the handle and use some clamps.

    thanks Jon!

I edited my post before I seen your post about emailing you the picture. Frickin dial up!

After looking at the way I was thinking about doing it I think I would have problems when turning the motor. I was just trying to figure out a way to protect the cable.

Any way I appreciate all the info!!
