Just installed a new X102c put power to it and it works. I’ll be getting it wet tomorrow on my 2005 shake down cruise.

My question is, when I’m done fishing I always take my sonor with me.(I dock where the public has access to the boat)
Is there a good way to cover the leads to keep moisture and condensation away. I used plastic bags and cellophane last year. It worked for the rain but not for moisture. Any ideas? thanks.

I never cover mine and have never had a problem. If you are sealing them tight I would say that is why you are getting a moisture problem. You could either try some of those silica packets or try to cover them loosly so air can get in.

I use SL-4 silicone dielectric compound. It protects the connections from moisture, dirt and oil. I also use it on my trailer light plugs.

    Don,

Where do you find something like that?

Fleet Farm or auto parts stores. It is used alot for spark plug boots also.

You could also use a dab of Vaseline or occasionally spray them with WD-40.

What is your concern with the moisture? Are you talking about moisture on the power and transducer cable left on the boat? Not sure there is much reason to worry. The unit is sealed and corrosion is not likely. Also, that dielectric grease works to prevent corrosion and reduce moisture at the connectors but dust and dirt stick to it like flies on fly paper.

I have used the dielectric compound on my connections for many years. I have never had any problem with it attracting dirt or dust. If it does, it is easy to clean off and keeps small pieces of debris from blocking connections.
