i need to put rod holders on my new boat, are the rail mounted kind the way to go? i’m gonna troll for ski’s so i need tough rod holders. have used the down easter before and really liked them. not sure how they would mount to my boat. i have a 175 tourny pro. tiller. i would also have to install rails, kinda wondering if they are gonna get in the way if i was to fish up there. the rails are about a foot wide, plenty of room to run around on without rails. or are the flush mount kind the way to go?
    thanks fritz

the downeasters get my vote. i bolted them right to the gunwales on the boat that i sold last fall. on my new 2025 pro-v i got the pursuit track system. kind of spendy, but well worth it. the only reason i went with a track system was that the gunwales are to wide on the 2025 and i couldn’t get the adjustment out of the downeaster that i wanted. the pursuit system gives me all the adjustment that i’ll ever need. they are removable also with the track system. i fish muskie also, they are very strong and easy to get the rod out when you have a fish on. if i remember right the gunwales on your boat are about 6 to 8 inches wide. you could bolt them right in the center of the gunwale and they should work fine. before you drill any holes just remember to make sure that they are in the right spots………..tom f.

thanks for the info tom…. i’m gonna have to take a look at the track system, i’ve never heard of it before. sounds like they work for you. i just want to be able to get the rod out of the holder when there is a fish on, as you know, easier said than done.
