The MCC chips are plug and play only for GPS units. You need software for laptop viewing. Some select Hummingbird units are compatible with the chips.

Derek is right. The chips are for the gps units only. If you try to read them with a computer, you run the risk of erasing them.

LakeMaster chips are Lowrance format so you can view them in the Lowrance Emulator (also called demos or simulators). They are free downloads from http://www.lowrance.com even if you don’t own a Lowrance. If you are having trouble running them call customer servive at Lowrance 800-324-1356. The Emulator is software that works just like a Lowrance unit on the computer.

Doc’s correct but I warn folks to be very very careful! Some guys have wiped out their chip because they don’t quite know what they’re doing on the PC. Be careful.

Think of the LakeMaster map as a file just like Word or a photo. Word files have file extensions .doc and photos have many like .jpeg or .tiff. The LakeMaster file extension is .at5 and Navionics is .001. If you see these, go the other way! Never delete them. If you don’t have any computer skills and don’t understand, have someone teach you how to use the map cards first. The manufactors have protected these files so you don’t copy them and sell them. The attached picture shows the file extensions as they would appear on the Browse MMC Files function.
