I will be casting jigs and bait from shore using a Daiwa Regal Z 2500C spinning reel. Do you guys have any suggestions for walleye rods in the $50.00 range ?

Berkley Bionix IM7 Series 6’Medium Action . Lures 1/8 – 3/8 Line 4-12. I use Flame/green Fire Line 4# test. You can get The rod and line at Walmart.

Berkley Lightning Rod, Gary Roach Series. I used them last season and they were very solid. I plan to stick with them for jigging and slip bobber rigging, light to medium casting.

The Rapala rod is actually quite a decent rod for the money. I would compare it to the Berkley Bionix. The Berkley Bionix is an IM7, and the Rapala is an IM6. However the Rapala feels a bit lighter, but a little less sensitive. The Rapala has a bit faster tip too, which works better for pitching and dragging plastics than the Bionix.

I have to give a nod to the lighting rods..
I used to use them all the time until I found a great rod builder.
Fot the price they are a good rod.
I snagged one with a nice reel out at Lacouplis last season.
    It’s a nice rig…

    ksdog,
all good suggestions on rods. as a former shore fisherman (still enjoy it after purchasing the boat) I would suggest going for a longer rod to get more distance on your casts. 6’6″ is good. 7′ is better

For the sale price of $59.99 don’t be afraid to try Gander Mtn’s Guide Series Pro Select IM8. GPS-661SML. Been a good stick for that kind of money. Bought an Avid and had a Legend built this winter so I’ll be able to see how it compares. Many great fishermen make various models work best for them so experiment and find what works best in your hand. Good luck! Kurt

SteveO, good point, I was thinking from the boat vertical jigging. From shore I would have to agree with SteveO. I would go with the 7′.

I was at Sportsmans today. They had the Fenwick HMX 6’6 ml one piece for 49.99. I felt it and wanted it bad until the wife came up and gave me a dirty look!
