I am searching for an 18′ tiller model boat in either Lund Alaskan or Crestliner Canadian or Alumacraft Yukon. Please provide your comments and observations, pluses and minuses for each model? Thanks, pfg1

I think the Alumacraft is only available in the 16ft model. Both the Lund and Crestliner are great boats. The Lund measures in at 18’7″. The Crestliner is 18′ even. Maximum beam for the C-liner is 79″, the Lund is 81″. The Lund is rated for a 75hp and has a 19 gal. fuel tank. The C-liner is rated for 65hp and has a 17 gal. tank.
On the inside I give the edge to Crestliner for better storage and a slightly raised casting platform. The Lund gets the nod for their rod locker.

I agree that the Yukon is a 16 foot boat. I was looking to down size and all the boats that I looked at in that range for what I wanted the Yukon was what I would like. The problem with down sizing is that you take a real kick in the butt! The problem I have with the models that you are asking about is that they are all over priced. That statement is made even if you are buying cash with no trade in. I suggest that you give another careful look at other boats at a size higher in each company and then evaluate if that is what you would like to do or even go lower in models that might meet your needs. If you do not fish big waters I would go lower in models. I have owned 7 boats in my fishing life. There is no perfect boat! Figure out what water you fish the most and go from there! Good luck in your purchase.

Hea Don, I purchased the 18′ Alaskan 2 years ago and was able to put a 90H 4 stroke on it. Has the rating changed and if so am I grandfathered in on my rating?

Hello, I need a 17-18′ boat, so the Yukon just got dinked from my list. I received an email offering a Year 2000 Crestliner 1750 Fish Hawk in excellent shape (150 hours) with a Year 2000 75HP Honda 4-stroke Tiller and 1600# EZLoader trailer for $10,500. The rig cost $16,000 new. That appears to be a fair price? Pfg1

Don, in 2003 the Lund Alaskan was rated for 90hp console and 60hp tiller. I was referring to the tiller model.

    pfg1,
I purchased an ’01 Fishawk with a 90 2- stroke Merc, fish locator, extra seat, Shorelander trailer, 55 lb power drive Minn Kota, 2 batteries and travel cover for just a little over $12,500. The key was buying it in the Spring of ’02 when they needed to blow out the ’01’s. $10,500 sounds high to me for an ’00. At $16,000 brand new, I would say the guy overpaid. Just my $.02.

I see. I ended up with vinyl in mine and really like it. It cleans up easily. I use it for both the Mississippi and also for the smaller rivers in my area. (sand) Also my thinking was, if I ran it up on a sandbar, it would be light enough to push off. I haven’t had to test that theory yet, thank goodness! Anyway, thanks Don for clearing that up.
