Lowrance LCX-15MT Closeout Prices

    Hey Wade,
    I have been looking to replace my old Bottomline Champion HR unit with a high end Sounder/GPS unit. I have been seriously considering the LCX-15MT. What cone angle do you recommend, the 12-37 or 21-37 for fishing in 60 feet or less. Is Lowrance discontinuing this unit? What are the best units out there in the $1000-$1200 range? What do you think of color units? Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    EyeJacker, I’d go with the wider cone for 60 feet or less, although either one would work fine. Yes, Lowrance is discontinuing the unit. There will be a “replacement” unit, the x-17. The x-17 will be very similar to the x-15 but it will be able to handle all the newer map options such as Navionics Premimum chips (the x-15 will run Classic formats only). Best units around $1000? Will probably be the Lowrance LCX-20C when it comes on the market in 2005. The x-17 will be a good choice for a little less money than the x-20C, for those who like the monochrone. What do I think of color units? I think they’re the cat’s meow! I personally prefer color units, and there are more choices at reasonable prices out there these days.
