Hey guys. I have been doing a lot of pitchin these past few weeks and I noticed that the 6lb line I use seems brittle and weak when it gets cold. I am using Berkely Iron Silk. Does anybody have these same problems and what are your favorite cold weather lines? Thanks.

Yikes… iron silk in the cold is some nasty stuff.

Try the berkley sensation solar in 8Lb test (it has the same diameter as 6 Lb). It’s much more “cold friendly” than the iron silk which should come with a warning about using it sub-50 degree temps… lol

The sensation can be a bit hard to find but fleetfarms usually have it.

Just in the cold…….. . I wouldn’t wish that line on my worst enemy, even in the summer months

Ditto to the above recommendations. If you can still find the original Stren Solar XT( I still do occasionally)it is GREAT LINE in cold weather!
Hey Guys! Any problems with the superbraids in cold weather?
I’ll be out there Friday with one rod spooled up with 8# StrenBraid for the deeper water/heavier jig presentation.

It will be COOL.. ..dress warm

well I haven’t had any troubles with the spiderwire stealth in colder temps. although I do not fish through the winter casting open water, i am one of them guys that sits in a warm shack and watches a little bobber do circles around the hole. and if you are fishing the big pond, you could be waiting a long, long, long, long time.
