Should a guy have any reservations about trolling with a 225 EFI?

Will the motor “load up”, or is it “unhealthy” to do.

My intentions are to troll for muskies and the boat doesn’t allow for a kicker. My trolling would be from 2 to 6 hours at a time.

I don’t care about fuel economy or anything of that nature, I’m just concerned about the effects of idling for that long, if it could have adverse effects or not…

    Yep,
If its anything like any of the EFI’s Ihave ever owned it will load up and when its hot it will lose pressure in the gas line and have to be manually pumped up every so often.
Minn Kota makes an electric motor that can be mounted on the lower unit that comes in thrust large enoungh to allow you to troll.

    Gary –

Have you looked at the possibility of adding a static mounting plate to mount a kicker motor? Ranger uses these as their transom’s are not traditional for mounting kicker gas or transom electric motors. I am only bringing this up as most boats that can handle a 225 EFI should have the transom width to hold a kicker motor also…

Panther makes a model along with other manufacturers. Here is there link only for reference: http://www.panthermarineproducts.com/panther/accessories.html – it’s model 55-0405.

If this doesn’t work, sorry to clutter your thread.

The boat is a bass boat ( ). I bought it for muskie fishing ( ). It is a Champion. With that said, there really isn’t much room (nor do I have desire) to mount a kicker.

    Thanks for the idea though!!!
