They are good reels. They are made by Diawa and just put the St. Croix name on them.

They are made by Daiwa to St. Croix specs. Actually fewer, but higher quality bearings and a few other details. Thats why they are a liitle more expensive.
I had one bail issue and the reel was immediately replaced…I have used them extensively Guiding this year and so far am very pleased!

Gear junky…… to the soap box!

I got to test drive these on my spring trip to Gull Lake and I didn’t have even the slightest hint of anything unpleasant…….. except that they didn’t spool much line on there! If I’d have had one of those river surprises take me for a run, I’d have been outa luck! Now I ask, if someone’s going to “donate” samples, why would they skimp on the mono? I don’t mean to complain, it was nice…….. but I actually had someone ask me if that was all the line you could put on there? I’d hate for anyone to get the wrong idea over something so inexpensive.

Anyway…….. for the reel itself…. I’ll own a couple someday. Probably about the time my Shimano’s finally wear out.

I have one, I like it alot. I like the sizes better than the Shimano offerings, not sure long term durability will hold up to Simano yet.
