Tracker Tundra

I’m wondering what experiences the guys in this board have had with the Tracker Tundras — the formed aluminum boat that basically looks like it’s a glass boat. I’ve had a couple guys tell me that they really like it, and one in particular that really pushes his boat hard who says he’d take the ride in his 18′ Tundra over any other 18-19′ boat.

I’m hesitant about the Tracker name. I associate it with a cheap boat. Any opinions/experiences?

    Thanks.

A buddy of mine was seriously looking at them. He went to Bass Pro shop in Gurnee, Ill. He found the back deck on the floor model to be “squeaky” when he walked around it………..

It was squeaky enough for him to walk away…………….

I have to admit they build a fine looking boat but, I know 1 guy who owned one and had the hull crack when he was fishing Winnie in big waves. It took Bass-Pro 8 weeks to repair under warranty, a good part of the season.

The dealer I bought my boat from told me they dropped the Bass-Pro line due to the poor craftsmanship and picked up another line of boats.

    That is my 2 cents.

Are you sure it was a Tundra that cracked?

I have heard nothing but good things about the Tundra.

This is new technology. This is a formed hull. .125 thick aluminum that is heated and formed in a mold to get the unique hull, then welded together.

This has the advantages of the fiberglass shape and the strength of aluminum, the best of both worlds.

Go find a dealer and take one for a ride, then decide.

If they made an 18 foot tiller in a Tundra, I’d have one now, dispite having a Merc on the back.

Buy an AlumaCraft 2xB hull boat! Look at the specs! I love mine! It is a 2001 Magnum 175.
