I bought an fl-8 recently with the alarm on it. Does anyone know how this alarm works or how to adjust it? i have seen other people use them but have never messed with one. I have only used it open water so far and would like to figure it out for ice fishing.
Its an older model, its a target alarm. Pull the alarm switch out and you will see a red bar show up on the screen. Turn the knob to the desired depth, for example, say you want the alarm to sound whenever a fish passes through from 0-20 feet. Turn the knob to 20 feet and then push the knob in. Whenever a target goes into the 0-20 depth, the alarm will sound and you will want to never use it again. It works best for ice fishing in a large fishhouse, you can set the alarm, go back to playing cards, and when it sounds, you can get to the hole to jig up some fish.
