I am looking at buying an e-tec next year(75hp).

I have all the info on the outboard, talked to sales people, but have not talked to anyone who has or had one.

Anyone out there that has one please write back and let me know what you think about the e-tec outboard,i just want to know from the owner first hand, not from brochurs, sales, spec sheets, etc….

If anybody has GOOD articles about the outboard motor, just send it my way. thank you, Erik

    Hey,

I own a brand new 75 e-tec. As of now I like it a lot. It is very quiet…not as quiet as a 4-stroke but close enough. The gas milage is good and it doesn’t use a lot of oil either. A nice thing about it is that it is easy to maintain also. You do not need to change the oil and oil filter every year and so on. It does have a great hole shot also. It starts every time….you do not even need to push the bulb to prime it/ or you never need to choke it either…..which is nice. One down fall is that sometimes when you are getting out of the hole it skips but I asked technicians and that has to do with the timing and thats about it. If you shoot out fast like you are suppose to it dosen’t do it or you don’t even notice it. Anyways….I think they are good motors I guess. 3 year warranty no-declining…..can’t go wrong that either. Also has a built in transom saver…..which is really handy…..works slick…good idea when they made that motor to include that also. Any other questions get back to me. I have mine on a 1600 lund explorer. The spedometer says I go about 35-40 with 2 people in the boat. Pushes it very nice. Hope to hear back. What other motor is an option besides e-tec. I looked into some also so maybe I can help. Chad
