What’s the oil everyone is using in the optimax? I’m new to the optimax, Is the mercury oil the best bet or is ams oil just as good? It’s a 2007 115hp.

My 2000 Opti has never seen anything else except Amsoil HP since I have owned it.

I ran the merc oil the 1st 3 yrs on mine, but switched to amsoil 2 yrs ago & won’t go back. amsoil has burned much cleaner & when on sale at Fleet Farm is much cheaper to boot.

Personally, I will only use the oil designed specifically for the Optimax so I don’t have any issues – no reason not to. I’d hate to have thousands of $$ of damage because I didn’t use the recommended oil. I’m sure Amsoil has top quality products, but I won’t take a chance – I’m not a gambler.

You will find this is very much like a Ford vs Chevy question….

I have always used Optimax Oil myself, but others prefer the Amsoil. I say go with what you are comfortable with and can purchase near you…

Also use the Opti oil. Merc or Quicksilver. Just make sure the jug says made for Opti or HPDI motors. Never a problem.
