Over Memorial Day my family makes an annual trip to Dryden Ontario to visit the in-laws. Knowing some fishing would get done and zero electronics on the boat, I thought this would be a good time to test out the Marcum on the boat. I didn’t have a high speed ducer, just the standard ice fishing puck draped over the side of the boat. I was using the Chart mode, back trolling under 1 mph.

This unit was set up just as it would be for Ice fishing. So if you ever find yourself heading to a remote area without any electronics, charge up the ice fishing unit, throw the puck over the side of the boat/canoe/kayack and fish away on the soft water.

Or if you have a little water sitting in the transom/bilge…..just set the ducer in that and it’ll shoot thru the hull. Works at wide open throttle that way…..

I’ve been using my LX 6 in the canoe this spring with the ice-puck and it has been working great for me too, glad to see others are getting 4 season use out of theirs too!

I hammered the eyes last year on Mille lacs using my lx7 in the boat and slow drifting a reef edge with ducer over the side. Picks up bottom huggers so well. Don’t forget to pull in ducer before take off!

Great to hear others are taking advantage of a great winter tool for summer fishing as well

Before the LX6 and beyond were out I bought a transducer to fit the bow mount trolling motor and have my LX3 mounted on the bow. It works so well I might buy the open water version for my LX7 too. That would be awesome on our 14′ portage boat!
