There is nothing obvious that I can see that would be causing the problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to why I’m blowing fuses? Do they still service this model? Thanks in advance.

a friend of mine would blow a fuse on his lowrance depth finder everytime he would use his marine radio. he had to always turn off the finder before he would use the radio. found out the the power source wires to each unit were on the same battery.and some type of surge would come thru the finer wires. are you also using the right size fuse? Dirk,
    Did this just start?
If you haven’t already, check the connections to the battery. They get alittle corroded and will creat heat. Also is it the same wire (size) running to the battery? If it’s wired anyother way, try running it directly to the battery.
Generally you can run two units off of one wire..before the fuse…never between the fuse and the unit. But if your having problems, wire directly and see what happens.

Checking for the right fuse sounds too simple..but one of my last sonar/gps units came with a 2 amp fuse, but the “through in the box after the instructions were printed” note said to use a 3 amp. Worth checking.

I hope this isn’t too obviouse but check for sharp bends, nicks or cuts in the insulation of the hot wire.

I think I’ve covered everything…otherwise it’s a problem in the unit. You can email lowrance and find out what there thoughts are (I haven’t had much luck with there “generic” answeres), but you can find out what the costs would be…
If you do emial them, you need to be very specific as to what questions you want answered.

I know a guy that can give you a great deal on a new unit. Free shipping since you don’t live in IA…
