Hey guys I’m wondering if it would be possible to build a in floor rod locker? On this boat the rod locker is in the side compartments with no tubes or anything. And I don’t think long trolling rods would fit in there. Has anybody had luck building a in floor rod locker or somehow adding tubes in the side? I always just leave my rods out and end up breaking one or two every couple years. Any advice?

forget the tubes, use rod sleeves, you can get more rods in there that way. If the boat didn’t come with in floor storage it is either a fuel tanks or filled with foam and will be a pia to convert.

Maybe. What’s in the floor on your Sportfish?

Mine was 10 years older and it had an in-floor cooler that exttended from between the driver’s seat fore and aft, then there was another compartment behind that. Joining the two of them could have provided enough room, but that’s just a guess, I never measured.

Wasn’t there an ongoing thread of just this? Somebodys sportfish that they added a casting deck up front and put a rod locker right through the middle. Can’t find it,maybe worth a search, really nice setup.

Yep, the above link is my dad’s boat that we just added a rod locker in (among other things). Ours is the 1750, so the longest rod we are able to accommodate is 7 foot.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions. We had it out on opener and it is awesome how much more casting space there is up front. I was never much of a fan of the “convertible” front seats.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have to take the boat to the dealer next week so I will see what they have to say about this. I may end up going with some kind of external storage. Any ideas on this?
