I recently purchased a used 16′ semi-v with a 2001 35 hp johnson motor on it. The motor came with an aluminum 4 blade prop that measures 10 1/2 x 14. One of the blades on the prop is busted off so I would like to replace the prop with a stainless. A few questions I have are should I stay with a 4 blade or go to a 3 blade? If I go to a 3 blade do you increase or decrease the pitch of the prop. I don’t have a tachometer to know my rpm’s so it makes it difficult. Also, after looking around can the diameter (10 1/2) be changed to fit the boat? I seen a lot of 10, 10 1/4 size props listed for that motor, and not sure if they would still fit or not, but why would they offer them for that motor then? Thanks for any advice any can offer.
