I’m installing a Trollmaster throttle control to my kicker, should I connect the power supply to the cranking battery or to one of the trolling batteries? All batteries are dual purpose starting / deep cycle agm. Thanks guys.

I’d mount it to the starting battery

You don’t want to prematurely drain your trolling motor batteries

I have everything on my starting battery i.e graphs, accessories etc..

I also run AGM batteries just incase the starting battery ever gives me trouble, I can just easily swap a trolling battery out to get the motor going

I personally don’t loke putting to much on the starting battery. If you do make sure you carry jumper cables so you can jump it off your tm batteries if needed.

The only time trollmaster will be on is when the kicker is running. most kickers will charge if they’re running.

I’m using a Coleman 9.9 four stroke as the kicker which I found out is a Yamaha motor. Upon close inspection I found what I belive is a solid state voltage regulator with a pigtail coming out of it. My next trip will be to locate a charging harness to charge my battery off the kicker when trolling.

So, here is what I finally settled on. I upgraded the starting battery from a 24 series to a 27 series dual purpose deep cycle/ starting battery. The Trollmaster, fish finders, live wells, and other 12v items are all via switches on the dash. The master on the dash isolates everything except for the main motor. I found the Yamaha part number for the voltage regulator on my Coleman kicker, now all I need is the wiring harness that will allow me to charge the battery while trolling
