I thought I remember my motor giving a little reassuring “chirp” when I turned the key on… there is no tone when I turn the key now. Maybe I was imaging that it used to do it?? It is a 2005, I think. Is there supposed to be a tone when the key is turned to on? If so, is it something to worry about and any idea on how to troubleshoot the problem? Thanks

    My 2008 F90 doesn’t chirp. I don’t think it ever did.

Yamaha dosent run a horn check like some of the other manufacturers do, so for them everything is normal unless you hear a horn. That said there are ways to check the horn if you want to make sure the horn is good.

    Trout,

Do you have a fuel/water separator? If so change it and the chirp will go away. I did the same thing on my f150 and thought something was wrong when there was no chirp. I read somewhere that the chirp I was hearing was telling me the fuel/water separator needed replacement.
