    So….I had this laying around the garage. Can’t even remember what I originally bought it for. But, what’s to say you can’t use this for lower unit oil?

    I would only use it for starting fires, if it even burns. looks very old and I would not risk losing your rig for a few weeks if it breaks down due to your old oil.
    just sayin!!

    Thanks for the reminder….now I remember what I bought it for! I did buy it for a tractor I used to have. Used very little, obviously. Figured it didn’t hurt to ask about boat applications. Ya, I’ll find some other use for it. I’m sure there’s one around somewhere.

    Beyond weight and viscosity you have to use the right GL rating for your particular application. Different gearcase and bearing / bushing materials need different formulations. Use the fluids recommended by the manufacturer.
