Anyone know if the reel seat of the 500 size is smaller like the 300 series, or is it the bigger size of the 600 series? Thanks.

I also believe that it is larger than on the 300 series.

I did just double check and the reel foot is larger on the 500s.
I took a comparison photo. The 500 has the tapered reel foot at the left. The 300 is on the right.
For those wondering, the implications of this are that the 300’s will fit on bass casting rods used in trolling applications that often come with a reel seat that is too small to fit a 500 series or larger Tekota. All purpose – built trolling rods I’ve seen always had the larger reel seat that would accommodate the larger, and smaller, reel feet.

Thanks for the info. I just got a pair of the 600 size and they don’t fit my favorite lead rods – 7′ mod action bass crankbait rods. I was hoping the 500 size might fit them and just run 5 colors.
Any suggestions for rods with trolling sized seats that’ll show the action of SR7 shad raps running up to 5 colors deep? . I’m open for 7′ and also longer rods. My Compre 8’3″ telescoping trolling rods are dead running lead unless I’m dragging bottom.

This might sound like a drastic step but I know guys that have solved the “fit” problem of the larger reels on bass rods with a dremel. A little bit here, a little bit there… before long you have a custom fit for the rods you currently have and they still work in rods with the larger reel seat.
I found a really good deal on the 8’6″ MHF Limit Creek Trolling rod and have had no complaints so far. Can see a #5 Shad Rap ticking bottom in 30+ FOW. Also have the 5’0″ “Shorty” Rod and also the 12’0″ rod.
If money is no object, I would definitely choose the St. Croix Eyecon rods
