…or lack thereof. I busted ANOTHER one tonight after getting it caught in a snag. The snag was minimal, and I got the rap out, but then half the lip was gone. I proceeded to look at it and the other two pieces on each side just crumbled away. I busted 2 or 3 last year after not demanding much from them either. Anyone else having problems with these? After these instances, I’m going to refuse to pay full price for one ever again.

That’s surprising to me. I haven’t had any problems with the ones I have and some I have caught 100’s on. What ones are breaking? I only use the shad ones the xsr06’s.

Not surprising to me. They won’t even replace the bent lip shadraps any more. They break all the time. Send them back to rapala and see if they send you a replacement

Only rap I’ve ever had break on me was twisted in an 18 lb. pike’s mouth as I was freeing one set of trebles and he decided to barrel roll.. I duct taped it together and still catch fish on it. I would send that Rap back in, it’s got to be a defect. The ones you’ve had break, were they by chance bought at the same place?

Somehow I think smack talking their baits would be more productive than trying to get any new ones from them. I’ve got way too much key chain bling these days, because that’s all they’re good for.

These are the x rap minnows, not the shads. #10s.

not just those had many broken bills on shad raps fat raps and especially the shallower runners. hit a rock on the retrieve and they would be broken. they never stood behind them then and stopped buying them. do any of you remember those baits.

For as expensive as they are, what $9 – $12, you’d think they’d stand up a bit.

What’s a similar crank to consider in another brand?

I don’t use xraps so I can’t comment there but I abuse the hell out of all sorts of raps on the river in current, timber, rock, fish, and at high speeds and have never had a bill break. By far built better and run more true than any crank out there Imo. I did have the tail wire break through the body of a #13? Stickbait on a large musky once but it was landed. Sorry- wouldn’t have posted but people started talking about other raps. I hope u just got a bad batch and they take care of ya!!!

Other similar cranks are Rogues, husky jerks, etc….but that’s the point. They’re similar, and not the same thing. I strongly believe there are days when an X Rap is all they’ll hit. Conversely, there are other days when an X Rap is definitely not what they want. Taking an X Rap out of rotation, to me, means taking a strong weapon away that can work. But you’re right, for what they cost, you’d think they’d be more durable. This is a pattern I’ve been having the past 2 years, and I’m very unhappy about it. Maybe I will contact Rapala, but I very much doubt I’ll even get a response.

I don’t have a lot of experience with xraps, and can’t picture the lip in my head. did all the lips break in the same spot??? if so, there may be a problem with the design. I wasn’t trying to highjack your thread, I am trying to tell you they have problems with there products in the past and have replaced them as long as you mailed them in. if you have 4 or 6 of them, mail them in with a short note about how they broke. you never know, they may send you some new ones. the only draw back was my shadraps were all the same color and they sent back different colors

I’ve replaced several x-rap minnows because of paint getting chewed off over the course of a year, but i cannot think of 1 that has broken on me.

I rarely break a crank bait, but when i do, it’s when i’m slapping it on the water to remove weeds. I tell anyone in my boat that is using my cranks that you owe me nothing if it breaks while fishing, but if it breaks when you slap it on the water you buy it. Since it’s my money, i still slap them on the water, but it pzz’s me off when someone breaks mine for me.

I also don’t cast cranks too much, maybe that’s the majority of the reason i don’t break them. Casting in shallow and repeatedly hitting rocks and snags is going to fatigue a balsa/plastic lure.

Crazy. I’ve never had one break, guess I got lucky. Maybe try and buy some from a different place (online maybe) and see if you can get in a whole new batch. Could be the store you are getting them from gets them from a distributor that bought a bad lot, knowing or unknowingly.
