Just wondering what others are using for a gas stabilizer/treatment for there outboards? I run premium no ethenol gas. Sometimes I don’t get out for a few weeks at times. Also have built in gas tank so I can’t just empty and fill again. Thanks

I have a 40 hp carbed Yamaha 4strk. I run non-ox gas + Yamaha ring free + Startron and never have had any problems. I also drain my carbs if I will not run it for a month or so. I beleive there is stabilizer in Startron so I don’t use any additional stabil.

There are a lot of good stabilizers out there and the ones I prefer especially for guys that are trying to avoid alcohol in there fuel are kerosene based stabilizers. Many stabiziers are alcohol based which works but alcohol also likes to draw in moisture and on water is not a great thing. Yamaha’s fuel conditioner is very good and it is also formulated to be used with ethanol fuels, so if you cant find 100 percent gasoline you don’t have to worry about it. However there are many other companies that make great fuel stabilizers I would just recommend not adding to much stabilizer, I have seen running issues in the past from guys that put way too much stabilizer in for the amount of fuel they were stabilizing.

Its always nice to hear about people stabilizing there fuel after every fill up, knowing todays fuel has a very short shelf life especially in the hot sun, and a little more cost up front saves huge later on.

Thanks for the link. After watching that it seems the consumer is getting the shaft on ethanol, especially the boat owner…

In the town I live in a station was fined heavily for selling premium with ethanol blended in it. How often are stations checked?

I have used SeaFoam for 25 years and never had a single issue with any motor. I use it in my outboards, augers, lawn mowers, garden equipment and anything else that burns gas.

Nothing. I drain my fuel systems when going into storage.
About every 5 years I clean the carbs.
