I know for a fact that there are a bunch of Sporting Good stores here in the Twin Cities that would love to have this chip on hand….. Hard to get over the counter right now!

    Wade,

Does this chip have the 1′, 3′ or 5′ countours of Minnetonka on it?

Nevermind, I see that it is 1′. I was ready to call you yet tonight, until I saw it doesn’t work with the X-15 Any idea why, or if it will be available?

    Mike,

This Premium chip has one foot contours of Minnetonka (Hennepin County). All the HD lakes are one foot contours. The entire lakes list can be seen at this link . I’ve got a few left right now if you need one.

Ooops, I was typing at the same time. The x15 does not accept the GOLD format. I don’t know what that’s all about. It’s really the only “newer” unit that does not accept these chips. Wish I had better news for you.

I know Derek has 2 4800s on his rig. He’d probably never notice if you swiped one.

I don’t think it will ever be compatible unless Lowrance were to do some sort of software upgrade with the x15 but I do not have the information to fully answer that questions. I guess the other possibility would be if Navionics were to make the Premium chip in a Classic format but I don’t see that happening. Again, I wish I had better news for x15 owners. Somehow I get stuck being the messenger when it comes to bad news with this stuff.

Here’s the explanation from Jeff at Navionics. I know this is not going to make x15 owners happy but at least it’s an honest explanation and it does make sense. Thanks for the info Jeff.

    Here it is:

    Hi Wade,

FYI regarding the LCX-15 and Premium compatibility. The LCX-15 uses an older (but still good) processor than the
new units. I think the 15 has been on the market for about 5 years now (thats like 150 in dog years with electronics)! The problem is that Premium requires a MASSIVE ammount of memory and processing speed. The X-15 would simply choke on Premium because it supports neither. HotMaps ran on a 16MB cartridge (which you can barely buy anymore)-Premium needs at least a 64. – Jeff

Yes he does, and yes they do!

It’s a sweet chip. I was pleasantly surprised to see pool 2 covered.

I have a few left right now and will be ordering more. Like Jon said, these things are sweet. Been using it all season and love it.
