MinnKota Bow mount thrust problem

My 3-month old MinnKota 55 lb bow mount trolling motor has developed an interesting problem and I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered something similar.

Specifically, the thrust seems to cut out when the head is facing between 1 o’clock and 7 o’clock, while the thrust works normally between 7 and 1. For instance, I can turn the thrust on continuous, and then steer the motor either clockwise or counterclockwise, and the propeller spins half the time and is silent the other half.

My guess is that some wires got pinched at the junction between the motor head and the thick, coiled black cable that runs from the base of the motor into the head. Any ideas anyone??

I bet minnkota’s customer service you give you an idea of what could be wrong, and they could point you out to someone who could fix it for you. They helped me diagnos a problem with mine a couple weeks ago, I went and picked up the parts and did the work myself… In fact I probably have a wiring diagram around somewhere, I could scan it and email it to you or maybe even fax you a copy, providing I can still find it.
