How much of a difference in motors?

Looking for info on how much of a difference in performance between a 90 hp. four stroke Merc and a 115 hp. four stroke Yami. It would be on an 18 ft. boat. Would there be a significant difference in hole shot and speed or fairly close in performance?

If it’s a windshield boat get all the ponies you can! A 90 won’t handle a windshield boat the way it handles that tiller of yours!

Come and see me………..I got 200 ponies on a 19′ boat. I’m sure we can work a deal since you have what I want.

The 115 seems like a stout motor. I’ve been in a 90 Mercury powered jon boat and wasn’t too impressed. It was set up poorly though.

Wondering if hole shot will be an issue than I wouldn’t look into a Yami.
It will run forever but pretty poor for hole shot.

Both are made by yammi. Same head different computer. I have a 90 on a pro v does just fine. I have a 15 deg prop to get up or 17 for a little more top end not much difference.

I have a Alumacraft Trophy 175 with a full windshield and even the 115 4 stroke is a dog. Cant imagine a 90

doesn’t this depend on the year of the motors?

Underpowering a boat is like going to go all the way with the hottest chick on earth only to find out she is a transvestite. It sounded and looked great until you finally got to go time, then you walk away disappointed and embarrassed. Never, I repeat never under power a boat.
