Any opinions on the 3 combo bag on sale at Gander for $13 right now? Pheasants Forever might pay for most of it for me.

Honestly, the best thing I ever did was to buy the Otter rod box. No broken zippers, stiff fabric from the cold and no tangled rods. I went through several cases and was never happy.

$13 bucks? Sure, go for it.

No one answered your question, I guess because no one has that case. Any case is better then a 5 gal pail or none at all. For $13 and sounds like you have a gift card get one and take pictures and post your thoughts. If you do not like it just return it. But I am sure we would like to see a pic with a report as how you like/dislike it.

I have a few of those kinds of cases through out the years but as other said I too have switched over to a better case.

It all depends on how much you think of your ice rods.

I dont think there is enough protection in the handle/reel area of those cases.

You can find a better case for just a few more dollars and in the long run you will be glad you did.

This is what I would consider if I needed one and very afforable >> plano breakdown gun case

    dimensions: 36″L x 10.75″W x 4″D. Interior dimensions: 35.25″L x 7.6″W x 3.6″D.

I also use hard gun cases. I have two from fleet farm for $25 each that hold all my ice rods.

Ive also had a few of the soft cases like that and after a few broken rods and getting sick of them getting tangled I got an otter rod box. It’s nice but in my opinion not worth $90. I needed another case and after looking at options I realized the hard case my Rock River AR15 came in is about the same size as the otter case so I bought another AR case from Rock River for $40 and the shipping was free. Good luck but I wouldn’t store my thorne bros rods n any soft case even if it was free!

If you spend any money on your rods and reels and have a heafty investment in them. why would you skimp on a case that would protect them. I have hard cases for all of my rods and love them. The otter case is also a good choice. I know the IDO staff I talked to at the show says they love them. I would take look at your equipment and revisit your choice
good luck fishing and be safe out there

13 dollars is a good deal if its actually more. Another rod case is the ones made by Striker Ice. I like them.

I don’t fly across the ice with my rods in the sled behind a wheeler or snowmobile. I walk out. On the way there, they ride in the vehicle with me. I’m not spending $100 on a bullet proof rod case. My most expensive rod cost $20 and combo $30. The gun case sounds good, but I don’t want to add that much bulk and weight. After the gift card I’m spending $4 + tax. I just wanted do know if anybody had this case and what their opinions are on it.

After reading the replies… If you feel it is a good fit for you use then by all means go for it.

I/we were just trying to help you get a better case for just a tad bit more $$$

It seems pretty sturdy to me. 1/4 inch thick pvc. I forget where I read it but one guy said the tube broke. Must have really been rough on it. Run it over with the truck? It could use individual tubes to separate the rods though.
