I have a Minnkota power drive and it just up and quit steering for me. It works just fine otherwise. It sounds like the is motor is getting a response from the foot control…but does nothing! I was just wondering if anybody else has ever had this problem, and what the fix might be.

My old motor had this problem intermitently. The foot pedal on mine was going bad.

I was having some problems with my foot control on my Power drive also.If you turn over the foot control you will see 3 screws under the variable speed switch. Remove those 3 screws and it will let yo get at the circuit board. The circuit board is held in place by 2 small screws. Remove the circuit board and turn it over and inspect the back side of it for burn type marks. The little nylon parts that touch the switches on the circuit board some time loose some of there strength and don’t hit the switches strong enough.I made a small shim out of that clear hard plastic so many things come in nowadays the same size as the circuit board. Put it UNDER the circuit board and reinstall every thing the way you took it apart. Not sure if this is your problem but I know it made my foot control work like new again. If you see some burn marks on the circuit board I believe costs $58 at my local repair facility here in C.R Ia. Hope this helps

I had the same problem with my 55PD, and it was a burnt board as jardan mentioned. Mine would turn left, but not right. Repairman said that if the foot control got sand or dirt in it, that would lead to an premature wear and tear and he suggested air blowing the pedal from time to time to clean it out. I have done so since, and no more problems!

Thanks for the info guys. I had already taken apart the foot control and I didn’t notice any burn marks. I’ll try shimming under the circuit board like jardan suggested. If that doesn’t work, does anyone of a good repair place in the Winona area?

    Thanks again, Chad
