I have a new transom running light and it is not dependable. Some times it work and other times it won’t. With all of this brain power on this forum someone must have a trick or two to help remedy this problem . Would a little electrical grease help? Ready to take it back to the dealer and plant it if you know what I mean.

Did you also replace the socket that the light goes into? Try some contact cleaner or replace the socket.

Does it flash on and off with the boat vibration, wave action, etc, or is it sometimes I plug it in and it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but whichever it decides to do it sticks with”?

Mine has an oblong cam shaped piece that slides on the shaft. You slide it up the pole and seat the pole in the socket, then slide the cam down into the socket and twist it to tighten things up. I think most of them work this way. I also had intermittent light problems which ended up being the bulb not seated well in the socket under the plastic hood on top.

Thanks Derek , this light is brand new ! I plugged it in before a tourney on Mark Twain Lake and it would not work untill you pulled the bulb 95 % of the way out of the socket. Then I fooled with it the day I was going to return it and I plugged it in and it worked . I think its possessed!
