Bow for bowfishing

I would like to try bowfishing, but do not own a bow. Any reccommendations? I do not want to spend a lot of money as I do not hunt and would only use it for bowfishing. A used bow would be in order. What pound test would be a good choice. Cabelas has a bow reel that I am interested in, but the last time I checked they were $70 or so, any other suggestions.

    Thanks

Welcome to the world of bowfishing . You are correct in not wanting an expensive bow. They tend to get full of mud, weeds, and get thrown around inside the boat or on shore. My recommendation is to go to a pawn shop and get a used one. I have an old XI that is maybe 30# max. Nothing fancy, just a string and an arrow rest. I also use a cheap plastic spool for the line. I have to wind it up by hand after the shot, but it beats spending $50+ for the fancy spool. If you decide to try it, I can assure you it will be a blast.
