antenna issue with iPilot bow mount

When I have my butt seat up, or someone is standing in the front of the boat, I have trouble getting my iPilot motor to catch my remote’s signal at times. I was thinking of expanding my antenna, or putting a new one on that’s longer and could perhaps hang out of the casing a few inches. Anyone here have any info on this? Do I need a special kind of antenna? Or could I rig it with, say, radio antenna material? Should I expand what I have or just put new on? Thanks for any info.

Try a new battery in your remote

That’s not a bad idea either, and it’s probably time for one of those. But it seemed to me the last time I had the motor open, the antenna looked short, too.

I have never has any issues with someone sitting on the bow seat with mine, not to say it wouldn’t happen tho, but I suspect a low battery.

What generation ipilot do you have. I thought I heard the 2nd gen had a little weaker reception than the first.

I have always had the same issue.
I have the 1st gen as well.
The bigger the guy between me and the receiver
the more I have to lean around to get the motor to respond.
