You could look for a air leak. Crack hoses or a hose that has come loose. Good luck!!

    X2 on plugs-if that does not do it,run a carb/injector cleaner

Before you go throwing money at it, take it in and have it hooked up to the computer. Might just be plugs???

Had a similar issue and it was an air leak in the compressor diaphragm. BTW, got worse quick.

Check the insides of your fuel line while your at it they may be flaking and coming apart from the inside happened to mine.

If all the above fails – Get a compression test done….and brace for the worst.

come on now let’s not go there. I have noticed it is usually a yamaha guy starting threads like that. Am I right?

I have such a motor, and it left me floating/drifting with the wind….1st trip bad coil…2nd trip, second coil…third trip, third coil and power module…..

I figured for sure you were a yamaha guy starting trouble. I have been lucky
only having one motor of mine leave me on the water. That was a brand new Mercury on it’s first trip out that some wires from the factory weren’t pushed together tight and came loose. Long trip in with the trolling motor. I have owned new mercs, an etec and a yamaha 4 stroke and
other than that one occurance they have been reliable. I know the first few years of the optimax had some issues, but now for the most part they are pretty good. Much better than the new SHO yamaha’s
