I have a 24volt system and to put the charger on, (not an on-board style) I do each battery seperatly. So, do I need to keep doing this? If I put the charger on the negitive on the one battery and the positive on the other will it charge alright? Is this hard on my charger?

    Am I clear on this?

    Thanks

If you run them in series, you’ll be trying to charge 24 volts of battery with 12 volts of charger.

Run them in parallel and you’ll be charging 12 volts across both – technically taking twice as long or so. Probably more wear/work for the charger.

I’d do them separately until you can swing a multi-bank charger.

    Don’t do it!!!

I tried it once and I cooked the charger in a split second. As soon as I clipped it on the second post, poof. Smoke, sparks….sizzel~sizzel. You are banging back 24 volts to a 12 volt circuit board.

I fried a battery trying to charge them one at a time while they were still hooked together. I had to unhook the batteries, then charge them seperately. It sucked so I got an on-board charger. Makes life so much nicer

Take a look at these. They’re a heck of alot more convienient and pretty inexpensive. That little 8 amp charger is practically free. It will take a long time to charge but if you have a few days between trips it might work out ok.
