Hi all, have a little problem that I can’t come up with a solution to. I have a Lund rebel ss console, with a kota trolling motor on the front. After 4 years of abuse, the motor sits really sloppy while in the non running position (out of the water). It only takes a bump or a good wave and the thing pops out and deploys itself or the head hits the top rail of the boat. Which is good and bad, good to get it in the water quickly, bad if you are trailering or running down the river. I have looked into ram holders, only problem is that I really don’t have a rail to mount the ram holder to. I could put one on the little deck in the front, but I would have to physically remove the mount from the trolling motor to use it. I am looking for a cheaper alternative than buying a new trolling motor. The boss gave me the ok to get a new boat in the spring . Anyone else have this issue, or have any good ideas??

    Thanks,

    Jami

There are some little rubber bushings in the mount base that compress with age. easy to replace, minn kota sent them for mine, no charge.

    Jami,
I use to have the same boat, I took a rubber bungee cord & wrapped it around the trolling motor and the other end I hooked to the metal bracket at the base of the floor. (The bracket that the rod slides into to hold the under the floor storage door in place.)

Thanks guys, I’ll contact minnkota, and use the bungee idea for now.

Another thing you can do is slide the collar down to the base and tighten it up after each use. That will prevent the motor from deploying unexpectedly.

Thats what I used to do, before the river decided that it wanted the minnkota bolt, so I stuck in a regular one that fit. I should really find another one of those, would make life a lot easier. Thanks Jon
