Do you terrova with ipilot guys use the foot pedal much? I’m debating whether to get the pd v2 or the terrova. How do pd guys like using it without the pedal???

I do use the foot pedal as well as the remote. They both work great and I like the fact that the foot pedal is similar to the cable steer minn kotas. I think this unit is a homerun.

I never learned the peddle from my PD model with the remote. Now I have the Terrova, still have never plugged it (peddle) in. I know there are times when not using the handheld would be nice…two rods, or other stuff while fishing but I am good with that. The remote just works, and if I get in a bind, I just hit anchor.

I still like the Terrova. Just built better, deploys better, and seems heavier duty. I’d sell the peddle, but know the first time I do, I’ll need it. My remote eats batteries, without the light…. so I know a time will come when I get caught without a spare. The peddles are much better on Terrovas as well.

    Terrova all the way

Tho I have the PD V2 model I lost the use of the foot control entirely, which means NO BACK UP if remote dies ect…

If I was to do it all over again,I WOULD go TERROVA !!

You can never go wrong with a Terrova. Bulletproof motors in my opinion.

In regards to using a foot pedal, the only time I ever feel the need to use it is in the rare occasion that I’m veritcal jigging, rigging or dragging jigs and using 2 rods.

Had PD’s for over 15 yrs and I always hated the foot pedal (the new design even more so). Took me less than 1 hr on the water to get used to the iPilot remote on my new Terrova; I still haven’t used my foot pedal yet.

As others have said, the terrova is really a better all around motor. Worth the upgrade in my opinion.

    Correct.
I find no use for my foot pedal either.

bought a terrova this spring and have never hooked up the foot pedal and finally threw it in the storage compartment in case I need it. The terrova has been a fantastic purchase in my mind and could not be happier with the unit.

I have a V2 with Ipilot and have yet to have a time where I wished I had the pedal. If I were buying new, I’d spring for the terova, especially to move up to the 80lb over the 70, and for the easier deployment.

Other than that, I fish two rods and run the remote just fine.

I do not use the foot pedal very often when walleye fiahing but if your going with the ipilot link the battery life on the remote is not very good. After 2 days of solid fishing I can run the remote dead before my trolling motor batteries do.

I have the iPilot model Terrova and still use the foot pedal on occasion. If I’m up in the bow casting, I prefer the foot pedal. The pedal works really well for hands free motor control. I use the iPilot remote when I troll while sitting at the console.

I have the Ipilot and use my foot pedal more then the remote. Casting shorelines or points for Eyes my foot pedal is in use constantly I need two hands to fish when casting. Spot lock is the best invention start to pick up fish hit the button and I can concentrate entirely on fish.

I use the foot pedal a lot when casting for muskie. Find it easier than dealing with the remote plus you can make steering corrections in the middle of a retrieve without having to stop the retrieve. The Terrova pedal is much nice then the old co-pilot pedal.

Wow, they still make a PD
IMHO, Spend the extra $’s if you can. I beleive You would be very dissapointed if you bought the PD, and then got to use a Terrova.

I went from a Maxxuum to a Terrova with I Pilot and I use the foot pedal quite a bit. There are too many times when my hands are busy and my feet are just hanging out doing nothing at the end of my legs so they get stuck on motor duty. Options are a good thing and the Terrova with foot pedal and remote give you options on how you want to fish.

I use my pedal all the time when vertical jigging and dragging. Easier to use my foot with two rods than monkeying with the remote. Could you survive without a pedal? Sure. But why wouldn’t you want to have both options? Vertical jigging in current and using the remote sucks, but that’s just my opinion. Seems way more natural to use the pedal in that situation and having run cable steers for 20 years, my brain doesn’t need to get involved, my foot just steers on its own.

Depends on how you like to fish. I have my pedal hooked up and use it from time to time. Examples of when its nice to use…. catch a big one, your buddy doesn’t have to try and grab the remote from you and can take over boat control while you bring in the big one ; when I’m doing a lot of casting I use the foot control so my hands are open, I still have the hand control out so I can use the spot lock feature if I’m by myself and hook into a muskie ; I think its just handy to have when you have your rod in one hand and a beer in the other. Definetly something that I like to have on the boat.

Thanks for all the info guys. I personally can’t see myself casting shorelines without the foot pedal. I also like to bass on occasion(only if desperate). I found a good deal on a new Terrova so that is what it is going to be. I’ve had powerdrives in the past and the stow and deploy wasa pain as well as the half functioning foot pedals. Pumped to get a nice bow mount
