I have limited space in my yard to back a boat trailer into my garage so I have always unhooked and pushed it in with a trailer dolly. I am looking at a boat with a tandem axel and know I can’t push or turn it by hand. I have been told there are hand powered crank dollies that can move heavy boat trailers easily. Anyone have any info on how or if they work, brands, prices? Thanks!

Do you have a lawn tractor? I’m in a similar situaion, my boat is stored out on a gravel parking pad at the back of my property. I have to push it across abot 30 feet of lawn to get it onto the driveway to hook it up.

Because it’s slightly up hill, it was major hassle getting it onto the driveway, putting it back is easy as it’s downhill. To make it easier, I hook it up to my trusty John Deere tractor to pull it on the uphill leg. Works great.

Obviously, this should be done only on flat ground or very sight grades. Since the boat will almost certainly exceed the tractor’s braking capacity, very bad things could happen on a slope that’s too steep.

But still, it’s a cheap option if you already have a tractor.
