I have a minn kota PD 55, when I get it up to full speed it shuts down. It will only run for a bit before it shuts down. I can run it all day at 70% but when I try to kick it down it cuts out.

This happening to anyone else? any known fixes? I thought I read on a previous post I might be able to put a bigger fuse in. Not sure if this is recommended or what size I would need to go to.

    Thanks

Had a 70 lb 24 volt power drive that would do this. I called Minnkota customer service. They said the circuit board was going bad. That is what fixed it. Give them a call.

Actually I had bought the motor from a Minnkota repair facility. It was a returned unit and the place I bought it from gave me warranty on it, but when I tried to get it repaired they jacked me around, so that is when I called Minnkota, so I would have some ammunition to go back to the guy for the third time. Minnkota will sell you parts and ship them to you in a day or 2, but you need to make sure that is what is wrong. I have changed the boards in other motors and it is pretty easy. Can be done in an hour. Best way to do it is only take one wire off at a time and plug it into the new board before taking the next one off. There is about 10 wires total, and 3-4 screws holding the board in place.
