I said I’d try to post some pics of the new Navionics Hotmaps Premium Chip and here they are. The pics are not the greatest but hopefully can be helpful to someone. These were taken on my Lowrance LMS 330C. This first pic is the LMS 330C with basemap only (for reference/comparison).

This is a pic of Ottertail Lake, Navionics Hotmaps Premium… The image is a little out of focus because I got too close. It looks much better in real life.
June 12, 2004 at 8:19 pm #308450I have sold out of the first bunch but I will have more coming in later this week. Until the Hotmaps Premium Chip is officialy released, we will only have these available in a jewel case (not in the typical Navionics promotional box which makes no difference to the user).
Here is a link to another discussion on the topic. Navionics Hotmaps Premium
And here is the lake list for chip #10.

It really is a time-saver. Talk about increasing your confidence on the lake! I talked to a guy who said he uses the Mille Lacs chip without the sonar on and simply follows the contour lines on the GPS. Seriously. I guess with 1′ contours you could do that.
I hope to get a chance to use the chip on the Iowa Great Lakes next week…
June 13, 2004 at 3:17 pm #308487Probably a silly question, but I’ll ask rather than spend time researching. The map with 1′ contours, is not included in the chip mentioned above, correct?
June 13, 2004 at 4:13 pm #308492The new Hotmaps Premium Chip mentioned above has the lakes with 1′ contours, including Mille Lacs. It basically includes all the lakes that were previously on 3 different chips (the Reelbottom chip, the Promap chip, and the Hotmaps chip). This is a nice improvement, having all on one chip for one price, and there are now more lakes than before.
June 13, 2004 at 7:35 pm #308497Wade are you saying the chip will NOT work on a Lowrance LCX 15 CI? Dang, I just bought the chip but have not tried it yet.
June 14, 2004 at 2:48 am #308512Wade, shoot one my way for the St Criox. We actually had full sun here yesterday and used the 19c in full sunlight…workes great even with sunglasses on.
I ‘spose you need to pay for your weekend vacation …so send a PM with the price…I think I have your address yet..and I’ll get a check off to ya.June 14, 2004 at 3:17 am #308517Brian,
I’ll send you a PM but I’m gonna run out to the boat and see if the St. Croix comes up very well first. I wanna make sure you know what your getting on that part of the river. Electronics charts are not always the greatest on the river. Much better on lakes. Let me check it out for ya…
June 14, 2004 at 4:00 am #308526St. Croix pic #3 (note that the image is much much better than this but this is the best I can get taking a photo shot)
June 14, 2004 at 4:02 am #308527St. Croix pic #4 (not sure if you can read the words on here – let’s see…)
June 14, 2004 at 10:59 am #308539The fist thing that stands out Wade, is that on the Croix, the Cans and Nuns don’t seem to be marked. That would have been a big plus…however I have them all marked and labeled already. Not much worse that running at 20 mph at night and have a can zip by your boat!
June 14, 2004 at 1:02 pm #308555Will this chip work in the Lowrance LMS 240?. I use the 4 lake 1′ contour currently, but does this new gold chip work in the LMS 240? Thanks!
June 14, 2004 at 1:06 pm #308556Does this new chip work for the Lowrance LMS 240? I use the 4 lake 1′ contoiours, but will this chip work?
June 14, 2004 at 2:57 pm #308569I believe the 240 is only compatible with Classic format so it will NOT work. The new Premium chip is Gold format only. You might call Navionics at 1-800-848-5896 to double-check it but I’m pretty sure of it.
June 14, 2004 at 6:43 pm #308607Just checked with Navionics and we should have more in on Friday. Brian, I’ll put your name on one.
June 16, 2004 at 8:28 pm #308917I just purchased the new 4800 a couple of months ago and with it, the #10 chip. Had I known this new one was coming out, I’d have waited. Any trade in policy with Navionics you know of Wade??
June 16, 2004 at 11:02 pm #308938Yes, there is. Goto Navionics at this link to see all the trade-in details. They can give you a credit for your old chip.
I think it’s a bummer for any of us to buy something and then have the “upgrade” come out a few months later but that’s the nature of the electronics business. The “next big thing” is always around the corner. Don’t let it bother you. If we always waited for the next big thing we’d never own a piece of electronics.
