E-Tec vs. Opti Max 90 Hsp

    There are some real good motor spec’s on the following web page.. E-Tec Motors on Bombardier Website scroll to the bottom right hand side of the page…

    I was comparing them to the new Opti’s on Merc’s web site here….. Merc’s Opti’s

    Looking at the displacement and the bore and stroke on the 90 hsp the merc will be better out of the hole and top end….but by how much really ? The E-Tec weight is 305(lightest model) and Merc is a wopping 375 pounds(lightest model)And how does the gear ratio come into play in top end speed and hole shot….the E-Tec has a 2:1 ratio and the Opti has a 2.33:1

    Does the Opti come in a tiller model yet? They did not earler this year. What about idleing RPM? Just some other important things to consider. For me any way.

    Gear ratio is accounted for in the horsepower rating. The rating is propshaft hp.

    From the ratios you listed, it looks like the Merc peaks at a lower RPM.
