Picked up some Mustad double wide fine wire live bait hooks in #2 and tried them out on some spinner rigs that I made this winter and was finally able to use on the lake up north. I liked the concept of them seeing them in action with the Next Bite and decided to give them a shot. With the short shank and kind of lever action in getting them set in to the mouth of the eye was attractive. After getting 5 good strikes between to rods on them with no fish to show for it I got a bit frustrated and switched both immediately to the regular octopus style and started catching fish on the very next 3 consecutive hits plus many more. Has anyone else had poor luck with these as well? And I am ready to just throw them in the garbage but if someone likes them for different applications I will hang on to them.
Grant it the fish were not hammering it like they typically do I am sure with all the boat traffic lately, but it was obvious when hooks got switched it was immediate hookup.
I am curious to others opinions on them.
