I am thinking of getting an Eagle Fishmark 480. It seems to be much like the Lowrance X-125 but with less power. Anyone care to comment on this locator?
Thanks, Swede

I have the Fishmark 320 and the Fishelite 320, would like to have the 480. They’ve been great for me. My last piece of electronics was the Eagle Ultra Classic. Comparing the pictures betweeen u.c. and the 320’s is like comparing a stick man to Monalisa.Having less power isn’t necessarily a bad thing, if you fish a lot of shallow water the 3000 watts can spook fish where the 1500 doesn’t and unless you fish very deep water you don’t need the 3000 watts. Good fishn to ya.
I have the Lowrance LMS-480 and was too in your situation….I was debating over the Fish Elite 480 and the LMS-480. I decided on the Lowrance because although the only difference is the power….thats a big difference. More power gives you better clarity on the screen and better target seperation. I suggest the X-125 even if you’re going to pay more.
Hi, Jim & Bass Hog,
Thanks for your comments, guys. I really appreciate the input. I’m using an old Eagle Supra I.D. that I won at a Duck’s Unlimited Banquet a lot of years ago. Had a green box before that. So, almost anything will be an improvement. You each have taken a different tack on the power issue. Considering that I will spend most of my time on Mississippi Pool 2 or Pool 4, and seldom go more than 20 feet, what then. Bass Hog, would you still go for the X-125? I’m retired, and I am watching my coins. Ma says I have to. Comments? Thanks, Swede
I’m also a 320 guy. So far, I’m very happy. I fish the same as pools as you plus the big pond primarily. If budget is an issue, I suggest the 480. It’s definitely better than what your currently using. Good Luck!
If you are watching your nickels and dimes I would suggest the Fishmark 480 as well….or even the 320. Bass Pro has the 320 on sale for 149.99 and if you take that price to Gander Mountain they double the price difference between their product and the price of the other. That makes the once 169.99 depth finder, 129.99….not a bad price at all.
I had the LMS 480 for a couple weeks, by Lowrance. You will be impressed with the resolution!
I’ve always been a Lowrance type of guy…if you need service…don’t expect any, you won’t be dissapointed.
So a guy talkes a little trash about bass…and gets labled a catman…is that all it takes!
i recommend the fishmark 480. good choice for the money. put one on my boat this year and i like it. in my opinion, if you want a sonar, buy a sonar. if you want a gps, buy a gps, don’t get a duel unit. i beleve that the power rating on the duel units are rated when the unit is being used as just a sonar or just a gps. when they are being used together you lose power to each side.
Thanks for all the input. Much appreciated. Here’s a wrap-up for this thread. I tried to buy a new Fishmark 320 on e-bay and took a shot at a used X-75 but got outbid on each of those. This morning I walked into the local pawnshop and guess what they had in the showcase. Yep, a brand new Fishmark 480. And, that was the only depthfinder they had in the store. It was marked $149.50, so I hummed and hawed for a while about having to spend $70.00 for a speed attachment. I knew the 480 was $199.95 retail. I offered them $125.00, they came back at $130.00. I can’t wait to get to upper pool 4. Thanks, again, guys.
