All I ever get is the impeller, but you can get the entire kit if you want.

I bought the impeller kit. I ordered the kit from iboats.com.

When I hit 50, my doctor told me my weak stream was due to BPH…

Thought for sure this was going to be a post about BK getting old. I was pleasantly surprised, yet slightly disappointed at the same time…

As long as the housing isn’t melted you can reuse it, and as long as there aren’t any grooves in the cup or base you can reuse them. You may have to replace a gasket or 2 if they break or are broke when you take the pump apart! If everything other than impeller is in good shape when you take it apart you should be good to go with just a new impeller!

That’s the way I do it too Bryan, if the impeller housing isn’t grooved or looks worn all a guy needs is the impeller, make sure the key is in the right place before and after you put the impeller on the shaft and maybe the lower seal on the bottom of the water pump housing.

While your in the lower unit check the oil to see if there’s water in the gear housing, clutch dog area. If there is, its time for a new rear prop shaft seal.

Got it apart last night, new impeller kit on order from iboats. Impeller looked good, no vanes broke, but if I bent one back & forth, I think it would break. Cleaned everything form the hose to the pee hole and all looks good. Very easy job, surprisingly so. Did I just jinx myself for getting it back together??

    Thanks guys!!

You may also want to look at the thermostat.

Bruce, thanks, I did that also and cleaned up the cap, tested the stat. While the stat was out I put the cap on and flushed things out with a hose directly on the water pick up tube. Got the new gasket and stat on last night, waiting for the impeller kit.

    Thanks!!

Those hondas are simple to work on. Think mine takes about 20 minutes to drop the lower unit and change out. Mines a 25hp.
