Minn Kota vantage toast?

I was fishing with a friend today and he took off without raising his vantage. It started to smoke after a 100 yds or so. We let it cool and tried it,..only ran wide open and then not at all. He said that there were warnings in the owner’s manual to not do this. Anyone know what blows and what it would cost to repair? Thanks

Weird, have him call a minnkota repair center and ask if nobody here knows by monday. Smoking usually means overheated gears/bearings in the motor from being spun at so high of RPM. But since it only went full throttle it sounds like it could be electrical.
